Prof. Jackie Eales: 'Kent and Turkish Piracy in the 17th Century'
Annual subscription fees are payable from 1 October: £10.00 per person. This includes the annual journal Wye Local History. Meetings are held in the Lady Joanna Thornhill School at 19.30 on the first Wednesday of the month from October to April.
Members can also opt to receive the Journal of Kent History, published in March and September at a charge of £5, or £7 for those outside Wye. New members and visitors are welcome to join. Non-members may attend meetings at £2.00 per lecture. To join, simply turn up to a meeting or email enquiries@wyehistoricalsociety.org.uk for more details.

Woodchurch Wagon is operated on a not-for-profit basis and is run by volunteers through the Woodchurch Hub. It is designed to cover the operating costs of the minibus, and should any profits be made through this scheme, these will be reinvested in full back into the village community.' No trains through Wye - replacement bus service

Planned Engineering Works.
Southeastern Trains is operating a replacement bus service all day between Ramsgate and Ashford International on Sunday 12th April 2020 to enable Network Rail to undertake planned engineering work. For details see the Current Engineering Work area on the National Rail Enquiries website.

In summary: 'buses replace trains between Ashford International and Ramsgate.
Engineering work is taking place between Ashford International and Minster via Canterbury West, closing all lines on Sunday.
- High Speed via Ashford: One train per hour will run between London St Pancras International and Ramsgate via Dover Priory. Customers to / from Canterbury West / Margate should change at Ashford International for a bus between Ashford International and Canterbury West, and for another bus between Canterbury West and Margate.
- Paddock Wood Line: London Charing Cross to Ramsgate services will run once per hour and will terminate at Ashford International.
- Maidstone East Line: Trains will between London Victoria and Canterbury West will only run between London Victoria and Canterbury West.
Replacement buses will run on the following routes:
- Ashford International and Canterbury West (fast and all stations)
- Canterbury West and Ramsgate calling at all stations.
- Canterbury West and Margate calling at Ramsgate and Broadstairs only.

Hi Kent runs free hearing aid aftercare clinics in towns, villages and communities throughout Kent. The clinics are run by trained volunteers and they will be able to change batteries, clean and re-tube hearing aids free of charge, while you wait.
Volunteers will ensure your hearing aid works well for you and give advice about Hi Kent's extensive range of specialist equipment, free assessment service for the over 65's and lipreading, sign language and deaf awareness classes and tinnitus support groups.
If you are housebound and cannot get to your local clinic, please ask Hi Kent to visit you in your home. Hi Kent is a registered charity for deaf and hard of hearing people. Established since 1986, Hi Kent received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2007. Hi Kent aims to provide a full range of services that meet the needs of anyone with hearing difficulties, and those who have an interest in their welfare.

Woodchurch Wagon outing to Sevenoaks and Knole Park POSTPONED

Sevenoaks and Knole Park, Kent's only remaining deer park. POSTPONED
Knole Park has remained substantially unchanged since medieval times. The ancestors of the herd of 350 wild fallow deer stretch back 500 years, and the park is one of very few wild deer parks in England to have survived this long. The park was first enclosed by a fence in 1455.
Outing on the Woodchurch Wagon community minibus. (All seats are free for Wye residents, but they must be pre-booked). Admission to Knole Park park is free.
The All-Ability Walk though the deer park is three miles.
