Election purdah starts

Tue, 26 Mar 2019

The date set for local elections will be Thursday 2nd May 2019.

The Electoral Commission has announced that pre-election purdah will begin no later than Tuesday 26th March 2019.

NB. The six week pre election purdah period starts today across the borough of Ashford. The term 'purdah' is in popular use across central and local government to describe the period of time immediately before elections or referendums, when there are specific restrictions on the activities of civil servants, local authorities and other public bodies. The term 'pre-election period' is also used.
