Big Garden Birdwatch 2020 will take place from Saturday 25th January until Monday 27th January. It's so easy to make a difference for nature.

Big Garden Birdwatch helps the RSPB to build a picture of garden wildlife across the UK. The annual survey can identify what is in danger - and how we can help. you can submit your results up until 17th February.

We will be pleased to welcome everyone aged over 14, regardless of whether you have played before or not. In the first months we'll help you with free coaching so you can improve as far as you wish.

  • You can wear any clothing that you will be comfortable playing in.
  • Some form of sports shoe with a good grip is required. Please note that shoes with black soles are not allowed.

Outing to Tunbridge Wells and The Pantiles on the Woodchurch Wagon community minibus. (All seats are free for Wye residents, but they must be pre-booked).

The Pantiles was a finalist in the Great British High Street Awards 2016 and 2018.

'The Woodchurch Wagon is a community wellbeing initiative in conjunction with Woodchurch Parish Council and Ashford Borough Council. It's purpose is to provide the residents, through their local clubs and societies, better access to transport. Woodchurch Wagon is operated on a not-for-profit basis and is run by volunteers through the Woodchurch Hub. It is designed to cover the operating costs of the minibus, and should any profits be made through this scheme, these will be reinvested in full back into the village community.' Emma Hanna: 'Sounds of War: Music in the Armed Forces during the Great War 1914 - 1918'

Annual subscription fees are payable from 1 October: £10.00 per person. This includes the annual journal Wye Local History. Meetings are held in the Lady Joanna Thornhill School at 19.30 on the first Wednesday of the month from October to April.

Members can also opt to receive the Journal of Kent History, published in March and September at a charge of £5, or £7 for those outside Wye. New members and visitors are welcome to join. Non-members may attend meetings at £2.00 per lecture. To join, simply turn up to a meeting or email enquiries@wyehistoricalsociety.org.uk for more details.

They play an important role in the preparing a community flood plan and putting it in to practice. Woodchurch Wagon outing to Maidstone

Outing to Maidstone on the Woodchurch Wagon community minibus. (All seats are free for Wye residents, but they must be pre-booked).

'The Woodchurch Wagon is a community wellbeing initiative in conjunction with Woodchurch Parish Council and Ashford Borough Council. It's purpose is to provide the residents, through their local clubs and societies, better access to transport. Woodchurch Wagon is operated on a not-for-profit basis and is run by volunteers through the Woodchurch Hub. It is designed to cover the operating costs of the minibus, and should any profits be made through this scheme, these will be reinvested in full back into the village community.' Voluntary donation to Kent Refugee Action Network.

Established in 2003, this charity supports young refugees and asylum seekers in Kent, and provides education programmes to help them integrate into the community.

'Migrants reaching Kent can apply for asylum as refugees and - if accepted - are given leave to stay in the UK for four years. Children under 18 who arrive unaccompanied, will be processed by police in Kent. They then spend six to eight weeks in a reception centre where they will receive health checks and be allocated a social worker. One of the largest centres is in Ashford. Refugee status is granted in accordance to the Geneva Convention and around 28 per cent of applicants were granted refuge in 2017.' Kent Live report

Planned Engineering Works.

Southeastern Trains is operating a replacement bus service all day between Ramsgate and Ashford International on Sunday 1st March 2020 to enable Network Rail to undertake planned engineering work. For details see the Current Engineering Work area on the National Rail Enquiries website.

Please check your journey times with National Rail Enquiries

In summary: 'buses replace trains between Ashford International and Ramsgate.

Trains that usually run between London Charing Cross and Ramsgate via Canterbury West will run between London Charing Cross and Ashford International only.

Services that usually run between London St Pancras International and Margate will be amended to run between London St Pancras and Ashford International only.'
