Trainee Flood Engagement Officer
National Flood Forum
The National Flood Forum is seeking a Trainee Project Officer based in Kent for its Channel-Manche Interreg project "Building Resilience in Flood Disadvantaged Communities" 9BRIC), a 2-year social innovation project to help people to manage their flood risk. The project officer will work with communities to develop a plan and work in partnership with a range of other organisations to better manage flooding and its impacts. You will need to be warm and approachable and able to engage effectively with grass root individuals and communities at risk of flooding, as well as professional organisations. Proven project management and delivery skills are required.

Town Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO)
Tenterden Town Council
Tenterden Town Council is seeking to fill the full-time role of town clerk and responsible financial officer.
The town is rightly regarded as the Jewel of the Weald and has a centuries-old association with the Confederation of Cinque Ports as well as a rich local and civic heritage.
With a population approaching 8,000 and a current precept in excess of £600,000, the council is very active and has embraced localism. 16 members, six administrative staff (including a town centre and tourism co-ordinator) and three maintenance staff serve an active and involved electorate.
A lengthy transition and handover period will be offered prior to the retirement of the current clerk.
Benefits include membership of the guaranteed Local Government Pension Scheme.
Candidates will hold a minimum of a CiLCA qualification, be familiar with accounting practices in either a detailed or supervisory role and have a record of proven, effective management of staff.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in handling projects and the ability to balance multiple projects would be an advantage. Full details of the projects in progress will be supplied with the application pack.
Starting salary be scale point 37 (£40,876) with annual increments. A higher amount would be considered for a highly qualified and exceptional candidate.

Data Quality Administrator

Main requirements
- An experienced quality administrator is preferred, with excellent administrative skills
- Ability to run searches and reports; and collect and submit data to relevant agencies using our practice's IT systems

On-call Firefighters: Wye Fire Station

All sorts of people can be on-call firefighters
This is an exciting job that makes a real difference to your community. Once trained you will be fighting fires, helping at road traffic collisions and other rescue operations. You will also maintain, test and clean equipment and kit and help raise awareness of fire and road safety at local events.
On-call firefighters are not based at a fire station. They carry a pager and respond to emergency incidents using the local station to respond from when this happens. They receive an annual wage to reflect the time they commit to being available plus additional payments for certain activities. They are expected to undertake and attend training at least once per week.
On-call firefighters are men and women who may have other jobs and are able to provide evening, daytime or weekend availability "on-call" cover. We need people who can be available for at least 50 hours a week, a minimum of 30 hours which must be predetermined.
On-call firefighters are a vital part of today's fire and rescue service. They provide an efficient, effective service that gives emergency cover to more than 90 per cent of the UK.
Basic requirements:
- Minimum age 18 years
- Good level of all round fitness
- Work or live within five minutes travelling time of an on-call fire station
- Be available at the times when the local station needs cover

Although there is no guarantee of work this arrangement may suit local people who are looking to earn some extra money with the flexibility to work hours around existing education, work and home commitments. We pay the minimum national wage for nursery work and currently operate Monday to Saturday although there may be some Sunday work available at peak times
The type of roles you could be doing would include, watering, moving plants, weed control and cuttings. You will be supervised and training will be provided. By the nature of our business the work can be repetitive and involves working outdoors so weather protection is also provided.
We are looking for flexible people who are happy to be contacted at short notice for work (you can refuse work), you should be self motivated, enthusiastic and enjoy physical exercise (its a great way to improve fitness)!

This is a permanent position, responsible for:
· In accordance with the production plan/instructions, maintain plants through rotation, cutting, pruning and re-potting as required
· Managing weed/pest/disease control programmes for the area of responsibility
· Accurate and timely completion of paperwork and other records e.g., stock assessment and management
· Ensure all production and spray programmes are followed, reporting any issues to the Container Controller or the Technical Controller
· Oversee the maintenance and husbandry of all stock to ensure the best possible quality
The preferred candidate will have previous experience of working in a plant nursery environment, with a proven ability to plan ahead, multi-task and communicate effectively. Knowledge of plants and the ability to identify distressed plants/pests & disease
Full induction training will be provided for the role. The Company operates 6 days per week Monday to Saturday 7.30am to 5.00pm and you will be required to work 45 hours pw 5 out of 6 days per week. The actual working days will be confirmed to you at least one week in advance. Working additional hours may be necessary during peak times due to the seasonal nature of the business.
